Learning & Interactive Games for Pre-K through Grade 2

On this page you will find interactive learning activities and educational games for students Pre-K through grade 2.  Several of these my Kindergarten son visits and has enjoyed as well as learned from.  They are favorites that several educators and I have put together.  Enjoy!

 Multi-Subject Pre-K--2

www.khanacademy.org This is for K-12. It offers 3,200 videos on everything from basic math to physics. There are also practice exercises to go with them. I use this for my 7-year-old as well for the students I tutor in algebra.  

 
www.arcademicskillbuilders.com  comes with fun games that quiz/help students develop Math, Language Arts, and Geography skills.  K-6

 www.sheppardsoftware.com  offers educational games and activities for Pre-K - 8.

 www.kidsknowit.com   This website offers a whole learning network for kids.  It has SCIENCE, HISTORY, MATH, SPELLING, and more.  It is a fun and free website for kids that love to learn.  K-12

 www.Kids.nationalgeographic.com   This is National Geographic for kids, and it’s great.  There are articles, games, puzzles, stories, activities, videos, and more.  This is a great resource as well as a place for learning games.  K-6

 www.pbskids.org  This site has a number of activities that will help younger children with logic, math skills, science, reading, etc.  It is a great resource for Pre-K through grade 2.

 www.sesamestreet.com  offers activities with dot to dots, shapes, number, alphabet, and more.  Pre-K—K

 www.dositey.com  click on “free activities”, choose a grade level and subject, and have fun!  K-8



 Math Pre-K – 2

www.aplusmath.com       If you want to brush up on your adding, subtraction, multiplication, or division skills this is the great website for you.  There are games, flash cards, worksheets, and printable worksheets.  You choose what you want to do from a large variety of skills, and then play! K-6

 www.ixl.com   This website is for levels Pre-K through Grade 6.  They have everything by grade level, and you can choose what you are having difficulty with in school or what you just want to practice on, and it will give you math problems in that category.  If you get them correct, you have a score section that informs you of that; and if you get it incorrect, it tells you the correct answer.  It keeps track of how well you did so you can compete with yourself the next time you go to this site. 

 www.kidsnumbers.com  This is where you can go to practice, and learn, all the aspects of math and really firm up the math foundation.  It offers 12-17 week programs that will help to build the concepts needed for a strong foundation in math.  The concepts are then practiced with games and you can also generate worksheets as well.  K-6

 www.aaamath.com  this site will teach learners math concepts, allow them to practice and check answers, and then reinforce with games for each grade level.  K-8

 www.coe.uh.edu/archive/math/math_lessons/mathles3/tutor.htm  This is a great website for young students learning how to count money!  K-1

 www.teachingtime.co.uk/clock/clockres.html   teaches digital and analog times to the hour, half hour, and minutes.  K-1

 www.teachingtime.co.uk/draggames/sthec1.html  is a game on telling time – digital and analog.  K-1

 www.kidsnumbers.com  math practice made fun!  This site offers games and foundation programs for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, time, money, geometry, and algebra.  K-8


 Language Arts & Phonics  Pre-K – 2

 www.starfall.com  My son used this website last summer just before his 5th birthday to learn how to blend and sound out words.   It has books that your student can read, or be read to, and printable worksheets for comprehension questions.  K-2

 www.roythezebra.com  offers interactive games for young readers.  K-2

 www.readwritethink.org   Choose “student interactive” under the classroom resources section on the left of the page.  It will take you to a listing of several options from phonics, language, to making book covers.  Some of our favorites are:  Word Family Sort, Construct a Word, Picture Math, What’s in the Bag? K-2

 www.houghtonmifflinbooks.com/features/cgsite/games.shtml  offers printables, activities, and games all themed around Curious George.  Level Pre-K—1

 www.seussville.com  This is for educators, parents, and students. It offers a booklist of what books go best with what holidays and months, lesson plans, printables, activities, and games. K-1

 www.aaaspell.com  a “brother site” to aaamath, this site will teach learners spelling and vocabulary, allow them to practice and check answers, and then reinforce with games for each grade level. K-8

 www.teacher.scholastic.com/clifford1/   offers interactive storybooks and games.  K-2

 www2.scholastic.com   Click on the “teachers” tab and then on “student activities” tab.  Choose your grade level, select and activity, and have fun!  Filled with interactive activities and educational games.  Pre-K – 12

 www.literacycenter.net  this site reviews letters, colors, numbers, shapes, uppercase/lowercase letters, and offers a tutorial on writing letters and shapes.  Pre-K—K

 www.bbc.co.uk/school/laac/menu.shtml  offers number, word, and music games, puzzles, and stories.  K-1

 www.sadlier_oxford.com/phonics/grade_k_1/high_fre/hifreq1.htm  this is an interactive fill in the blank using high frequency words in correct context.  K-1

 www.harcourtschool.com/activity_collections_preview/predict_outcomes/3_predict.htm  your student reads short scenarios and predicts what will happen next.  When they get correct answers they get a piece of a puzzle to a mystery object.  They eventually guess what the mystery object is.  K-2

 www.pbskids.org/lions/games teaches vocab, opposites, phonics, alphabet, matching, comparisons, and more.  Pre-K—2

 www.pbskids.org/lions/stories/  offers folktales and fables and games that go along with the stories.  K-2

 www.pbskids.org/arthur/  click on games and choose your preference.  Our current favorites are:  Facts and Opinions, Story Scramble, Un-Matching Game, Groovy Garden, and Connect the World.  1-3

 www.gigglepoetry.com  this site is all about poetry.  It teaches how to write poetry, allows students to rate poetry, communicate with a poet, and have fun with poetry.  1-3

 www.kidsspell.com  offers 819 spelling lists to quiz yourself on, or you can submit the word list you are studying on in school this week and use the spelling games offered to improve your spelling.  K-8
