Above are the pictures of the California History & Ancient History Class I offer through Visions in Education.  Course outlines are listed below.

Strengthening Your Writing Skills I

Student learns and applies the writing process, writes super sentences, paragraphs, and will write a procedure paper and research paper.  Student gives two oral presentations on the last day of the writing class.  Grades 3-6

Strengthening Your Writing Skills II

Student reviews and applies the writing process, learns the difference between fact and opinion statements and writes them, learns how to put together a thesis statement and support it, writes two     5-paragraph essays, and gives an oral presentation on the last day of the writing class.  Grades 4-7

Mini Science Fair

Student learns and applies the Scientific Method, performs several experiments in class and at home, goes through the steps in writing a science fair paper, puts together a display board, and gives an oral presentation at the Mini Science Fair on the last day of class. Grades 3-7

Ancient History I

Students lapbooks and learns about Ancient China and Ancient Egypt.   This class meets the requirements for these units in the textbook recommended by Visions in Education.  Student gives an oral presentation on the last day of class about both ancient civilizations using their lapbook as a display.  Grade 6

Ancient History II

Student lapbooks and learns about Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome.   This class meets the requirements for these units in the textbook recommended by Visions in Education.  Student gives an oral presentation on the last day of class about both ancient civilizations using their lapbook as a display.  Grade 6

California History I

Student lapbooks and learns about California History from the Early Californian Indians through the Ranchos period.   This class meets the requirements for chapters 1-4 in the textbook recommended by Visions in Education.  Student gives an oral presentation on the last day of class about a California Mission they have chosen to study, and they also share a little about California using their lapbook as a display.  Grade 4

California History II

Student lapbooks and learns about California History from the Californian Ranchos through the SF Earthquake.   This class meets the requirements for chapters 5-8 in the textbook recommended by Visions in Education.  Student gives an oral presentation on the last day of class about the California Gold Rush or the Transcontinental Railroad, and they also share a little about California using their lapbook as a display.  Grade 4

California History III

Student lapbooks and learns about California History from the early 1900’s through the present time.   This class meets the requirements for chapters 9-12 in the textbook recommended by Visions in Education.  Student gives an oral presentation on the last day of class their using lapbook as a display.  Grade 4

www.dsokids.com   Grades PreK-6  DSO Kids is the educational music site for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra located in Dallas, Texas. The site offers a wide variety of free music appreciation games and activities. You'll find an introduction to famous composers and their music, a virtual tour of the symphony hall, lessons that teach you how to build your own instrument, and practice tips for playing instruments.

www.activityvillage.co.uk This is a fun site to go to for kids who like to do puzzles, sudoku, origami, color, etc.  It is also a great site for parents/teachers for holidays, thematic units, coloring pages, and crafts.

www.makingfriends.com  This site offers great activities and craft supplies for the classroom.  They range from Bible crafts, youth clubs, or rainy day activities for parents.  I have used this site for every holiday-school party we have celebrated.  It’s great!
